Independents allowed to vote in Colorado primaries.

Unaffiliated voters are now allowed to vote in the primary of their choice. This change was initiated by voter referendum in CO and is now law. In my opinion this now makes party affiliation meaningless for the purpose of promoting a candidate with certain views. Unaffiliated voters may now be able to influence what should be the choice of the party. For instance the Democrats nominate a liberal and liberal leaning independents successfully vote in the Republican primary for the most liberal Republican. Now in the general election you have in effect two liberals running. Anyone think this is a good idea?
